48 Hours....

So, Sophie Catherine is coming to a hospital nursery near you on Friday Morning at 7:45

It turns out she doesn't want to cooperate and come out naturally, so this morning we were presented with our options; the ball was put in our court and we opted a scheduled C-section was best for Sally and Sophie.....and a nervous dad to be.
We covet your prayers for Friday Morning, and I'll do my best to keep everyone in the loop!

A Steel Toed Reality Kick to the Noggin

Friday's 7am ultrasound

And Sally's 9 am appointment with Dr. Cowan

solidified what we knew to be True.....There is a GIANT BABY IN THERE! Everyone's assurances that Sally was just carrying a lot of fluid (am I the only one that throws up in their mouth a little when they say that?) we're wrong. At 36 weeks, baby girl weighs 7.3 pounds. So, what does that mean? Other than the fact she could play outside linebacker for the Cowboys,
Sophie Catherine is coming earlier than expected! Sally has an appointment on the 12th, the 19th and Christmas Eve. If Sophie hasn't headed down the birth canal Slip and Slide by then, Dr. Cowan will schedule Sally for a C-Section before the end of the year (TAX BREAK!). If she was to go full term, gaining a half pound a week, she would come out ready to take over Tokyo, so Dr. Cowan wants to retrieve her a little early.
So, please keep praying for momma, baby and God's timing for Sophie to come into this world.

Almost Done Cooking!

Amazingly enough, we're only a few weeks from Sally's Due Date, so I figured I better jump back on the blog wagon and catch everyone up to date.

Sally has had an incredibly blessed pregnancy to this point. All of the Doctor's appt's have been great, and Sophie is coming along great. According to the the last ultrasound, it looks like that unfortunately she has been cursed with her dad's unusually big melon. The due date is Jan 2nd, but the last few visits to Sally's Doctor, she has been measuring two weeks ahead. Sally has another ultra sound on the 5th, so I'll definitely keep you posted.

Thanks to Sally and her mom, the nursery is finished and ready for Sophie to come home !

Other than trying to keep Sally from lifting, moving, climbing and all of the other things she doesn't want to stop doing; my only real contribution has been the "baby tribute beard" that I started growing the weekend we found out Sally was pregnant. I committed to grow the beard until Sophie was born, but every time I catch my reflection in the mirror

I think either a hobo is camping out in our shower, or Hezbollah has taken over our house.
Please keep praying for Sally and Sophie's health, a great final stretch for both and rest for momma!

Ultra Sounds, Round Bellies and a Sweet Baby GIRL

Well, we had Sally's 18 week check up yesterday which meant our first real ultra sound and we got to find out we're having a BABY GIRL!

I think truth be told, we had convinced ourselves it was a boy in there, but in true ninja style,
she had us fooled. We are so stinkin' excited! A lot of people have been asking how the pregnancy has been for Sally. In a word, Blessed. through 18 weeks she has had no bad nauseousness and no morning sickness. She is justifiably tired more often, but she is learning to slow down when she needs to. Overall, Sally is a champ!

Please Keep Praying for baby Loofah!
